Creating Content for Social Media
When you run your own business, you are responsible for everything, down to the tiniest of details. But something that can be quite challenging is continuously coming up with new content for social media.
It can be tedious, it can be exhausting, it can get boring, so here I want to give you a couple of tips that I found to make creating content for social media (especially Instagram) a lot easier.
First of all, when you are going to start planning content for social media, do so in advance. Set a day every 2 weeks where you will do nothing but create content to be posted.
This frees your mind from scrambling last minute to create a post or reel and helps you be prepared for content during the days you choose to post.
Content can come from anywhere; you could use a popular trending sound and make a reel that shows off your services and products, use testimonials, tips, etc. Anything you believe to be useful for your company can be used as content.
Your social media is YOU
Your social media platforms represent you, they represent your brand so your posts need to be consistent with your images, colours, brand style, etc. However, if you stay in a monotone place, your page can become boring and stop you from receiving new clients.
Moreover, when you make content every 2 weeks, you’re making your content in bulk, so remember that you need to make posts that have meaning, are consistent, and attract your dream client.
Use post-it notes
I’m going to give you 2 ways to come up with content so that, when that day every 2 weeks appears, you have plenty of content to choose from and can get started with an idea of what to do. The first tip is to use post-it notes.
You should have your brand pillars already set when you start making content, and the post-it notes strategy works that, whenever you come up with an idea, you write it on a sticky note and then stick it right below the pillar it belongs to.
Make sure you have an even split of content amongst the pillars so that your content is not relying too heavily on one.
Your phone is very useful
The second way you can create content is by using your phone applications, specifically, the notes app. If you have a thought throughout the day that you love and think can make perfect content, write it in your notes app and save it for a day of content planning.
The notes apps allow you to create folders, so you can even make folders of your brand pillars and save your note under the pillar it belongs to.
Content can come from anywhere, and organising it and planning it can be tedious, but if you follow the tips I have given you today, your social media game will become incredibly elevated.
